W. Alan Hall, a legend of Cave Creek, a pioneer and a musician with a voice that will make you cry. This image is extremely rare and very special. I have made thousands of images with old cameras from 1883 – 1929. As most of my portrait subjects will attest, 99% of the time I make one shot. That’s it. With W, I had to make 4. There is no explanation for why the first one was completely out of focus, or the second where just his guitar (Goldie) was completely out of focus, or the third where just his face was completely out of focus… No explanation! I’ve never seen it before. But then this 4th shot explained it. The ghost that traveled through the frame and the spirit that reached up and tried to grab his hands and the edge of his guitar when I opened the shutter…. There is something bigger at play here. What a gift. From the Gods….
