‘The 41’
This image of a c. 1970’s Ruger Blackhawk 41 Magnum single-action revolver is actually two images on one negative. A true double exposure. The first shot was positioned and exposed to just half the negative using a half dark slide. Both the subject and the half dark slide were then carefully flipped opposite the first exposure and the second exposure was made. Not easy but a neat trick!
The black, irregular frame you see around the image is the actual edges of undeveloped sheet film.
